There's the old saying, "If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there."Francis, I'm getting a backpack, does this one from North Face make sense? I wish I could make more sense by telling you I need my backpack to be this and that, but nope, pretty much clueless. So overall, good or bad? Thanks!
Similarly, "If you don't know why you need a backpack, then any backpack will be fine."
In general, I advise getting lightweight backpacks (1 kg). I love what Gossamer Gear makes.
However, without knowing your specific needs, I can't advise you. It's like if someone asked you "Should I buy the Toyota Camry?"
If you don't know much, then I suggest saving money and getting a cheap, used one on eBay or Craigslist.org. After gaining experience, you'll understand your preferences and be able to buy the best backpack for you.
