Question on food, water, and filming

Post by FrancisTapon » Mon Sep 08, 2008 5:21 am

I just watched your CDT yo yo trailer...very exciting..I like when it goes to the "again" parts!

Pretty amazing you did it up and back!

My questions are...what do you do about food and water...and who does the filming?

Jean
Jean: On a thru-hike I usually carry about four days of food. More than that it starts slowing you down. On the CDT I never carried more than 7 days of food - and that was heavy! I get the food either in nearby small towns or have the food shipped to a local post office (general delivery) and pick it up there.

I drink water from high mountain streams along the way. I rarely purify the water because at high altitude springs are usually much better than tap water.

I did all the filming and photography. I would rest the camera on a rock and use a timer. Or I would hold the camcorder at arm's length and shoot while I walked! ;)

Happy trails,
