What's the best tent/tarp for the Pacific Crest Trail & JMT?

I generally prefer tarps instead of tents for the PCT/JMT.I'm looking for light weight tent, shelter I can use on PCT and JMT
.. what's your advice?

The only time I would bring a tent is if:
- it's snowing
- it's bug season (June and early July) AND you plan to camp before 7pm.
If you keep going hiking until 8-9pm, then you won't need bug protection because temps usually drop at night on the PCT - which makes the mosquitoes disappear.
Backpacking technology keeps changing so it's hard to give specific recommendations. I generally love what MLD and Gossamer Gear makes. For example, you might consider The One, by GG, if you want a solo tent.
