Cover

I am so grateful to all of those who helped me design the cover of Hike Your Own Hike.

It started with 6 cover concepts. After 150 votes, one concept won.

From there, we went through a few iterations.

Ultimately, the final cover is the one you see on the right.

With the front cover designed, we had to complete the dust jacket. Once again, many gave crucial input which helped create the final product.

For those of you interested in seeing how this whole process worked, look at the rest of this page.

Thanks again to all those who helped me out.

Francis

Of the 3 covers below (A, B, and C), which will help sell the most copies? C was the winner.

I started with 6 cover concepts. Nearly 150 voters voiced their opinion and the results are below. Concept #2 won and #3 came in 2nd place:

Here were my original tips:

  •  If you want to vote for more than one, please give me your order of preference.
  •  Pick the concept and photo you like best, and don't worry that some look more professional than others.
  •  Ignore the "corbis" watermark on the covers. That will go away.
  •  I welcome suggestions on improving the cover(s).

In online book stores, magazines and newspaper reviews book cover images are small. So they should make an impression even when they are tiny. Ideally, covers should sell whether they are big or small. Also, newspapers only print in black and white. So check it out:

1 2 3 4 5 6

If you prefer to see them side by side, see below, but remember to vote using the numbers above:

Several people took the time to also comment on the back of my book.

Thank you!
